Home Brew Chapter – Sons of the Raven

I have been working on a few miniatures recently, with a view to designing my own chapter.  And this is one such mini.

Briefly, the idea behind the chapter is that it is a Raven Guard successor chapter, and it was all but wiped out. With the arrival of the Primaris marines, the Chapter has a shot at survival. However things haven’t quite gone to plan, as many of the wargear and resources have not made it to their home world, and the Raven Guard have a history of unstable geneseed….

I am not 100% certain on the name. I chose sons of the Raven because they were allegedly wiped out, and I like the idea. But I was tempted with “Sons of the Crow”. Anyway. the basic thoughts are bumbling about in my brain.

Dark Eldar Kabalites

I love Dark Eldar, and I have recently been painting up some Kabalite warriors to go in my army. If it weren’t for some dastardly vampires, I would still be painting Dark ELdar!

Khagra’s Ravagers

I have finished off Khagra’s Ravagers. These are all great models, but, I really just painted these up because I like the Sorcerer model!

Ultramarines Captain Uriel Ventris

I have painted up the new Uriel Ventris model.

This is an odd model. I am not saying it is bad, because that isn’t true, and wouldn’t be fair. But it just seems like an “odd riff” on a Primaris marine. The shoes are a bit squared off, and the gold trim is pretty unique for a loyalist marine (that memory serves). Again, it isn’t bad, just different.

Thousand Sons Psychic Dreadnought (Daemon Prince)

I have completed my third and Final Daemon Prince for my Thousand Sons. I wanted to have models that kept the style of the Thousand Sons, whilst also looking suitable for their role on the table top.

The theme of the three princes was to have one with very little corruption, almost a rubric prince. The second (this one) to show a little corruption, and the final one to be mega corrupted.

Anyway, here he is.

Here is the three of them in “order”:

Morgok’s Krushas

I have finished another warband for Warhammer Underworlds. Morgok’s Krushas!

I decided to go for a darker colour scheme than the standard yellow. For no other reason than to try something different with them. Love painting orks (Orruks?).

If I ever go back to them (as my good lady points out, I never do!), I think the bases need work, and some of the skin tones need to look more bruised and battered in certain areas.  Great models though.

Morgok’s Krushas – First Orruk

I am currently working on Warhammer Underworld’s warband Morgok’s Krushas. I will likely return to this guys face, specifically the brow, as the detail isn’t sharp enough.

Fabius Bile

I have finally got round to painting the New Fabius Bile model. He has been a bit of a favourite of mine since the Mark Gibbons artwork (posted at the bottom of this article).

I wanted to achieve a contrast on this model between Fabius’ skin coat, and his own actual flesh. He is so riddled with the Blight, that I wanted his flesh coat to have a more vibrant skin colour than his living flesh.  It’s a great new model and a lot of fun to paint. I would have liked some faces on his skin coat, but that’s my one and only small gripe!

Constantin Valdor, Captain-General of the Legio Custodes

I have recently been painting Constantin Valdor. My mother passed away very recently due to Covid 19, and in order to occupy my brain I have really been working away at painting.

This is a very busy model, but it’s a pretty amazing purely because it is who it is. It would be great to paint up the Emperor if Forge World ever release a model for him.
