I recently converted Vulkan He’stan for a competition.
I won the conversion competition so I am pretty happy about it! 😀

I have reclaimed this website as my painting blog. The site is completely dedicated to just whatever hobby stuffs I get up to!
Here is my recent Magnus the Red miniature.
This was an amazing mini to paint. I have been wanting a Daemon Primarch model for 40k since I can remember. So having my favourite Primarch be the first was amazing!
Well, here is the final group shot of my Grave Guard/Wights.
This has been a fun project, something different to my Word Bearers or Ultramarines which allowed me to experiment with how to do snow.
I eventually used Water effect with bicarbonate of Soda. It was a nightmare to apply, but the effect looks pretty good!
Okay, the whole squad is done, and with added snow. I will take a full squad pic tomorrow.
However I wanted to share this with you!
The snow took ages. I mean, ages. It was drying as soon as I mixed it together, so I was having to mix and paste super quick.
Quite happy with how it turned out. Not sure I would use the technique for a whole army mind.
Well, the hardest job has been finished on the Wight squad.
The banner bearer!
The hope is to have snow on top of the banner and such. Hopefully it will help pull the model together!
Another Wight done!
I wouldn’t say I am rushing these (they don’t take that long to paint) but the metal work on them isn’t amazing. I just don’t have the urge to fix it because I eventually want to add snow to the base and to the top layers of the model to show they are marching through a blizzard.
I have no idea how I am going to do this, but that’s kinda the point. All one big experiment! 😀
I don’t play Age of Sigmar, but I do love GW models enough to paint their fantasy range still.
I’ve realised I have taken pictures of this assuming it was finished when I haven’t completed the sword. When I eventually add the snow effects I will take another pic.
I love undead, I was planning an elite force with Nagash at the centre but I am not so sure anymore. The truth is I just like painting the models, so I decided to give myself a break from 40k (specifically my Word Bearers) and crack on with this!
Well, these are a little rushed, the edge highlights aren’t very neat, but they are done. So that’s a 10 man Assault squad done!
My Ultramarines are slowly becoming a pretty sizeable force!
Another Assault Marine completed!
Again, not the greatest thing I have ever painted, but happy enough with the result!
So, having had my Word Bearers published in Warhammer Visions this month (my copy has still to turn up in the post 🙁 ) you may expect me to be on a Word Bearers high!
Well, surprisingly the first thing I have painted is some Ultramarines!
I had done a small squad of five some time ago, and to me it felt like an unfinished squad. So I decided to add the final five with sergeant and the special weapons. Now, I know they don’t look particularly great, but I converted the normal chain swords to be larger ones to represent both of them having eviscerators. I do actually have a box or two of the new assault marines, but I didn’t want the old ones to go to waste, and yeah, thought I would quickly give it a go. They look too big for just one hand, in hindsight I should have gone a step further and converted them to be holding them two handed.
Oh well!
